Ring doorbell installation in Fulham homes
Ring is the name most people search for, but we fit other video doorbells too. Most run on a rechargeable battery and screw to the door frame or the brick beside it. Some connect to an existing wired doorbell, which keeps them charged.
Fulham front doors are often the trickiest part. Many terraces have narrow door frames, decorative tiles or stone around the entrance, and porches that leave little flat space for a mount. Angled brackets and the right fixings for brick or stone make the difference between a doorbell that sits straight and one that looks bolted on.
- Battery video doorbells on timber, brick or render
- Wired doorbells connected to an existing bell supply
- Chimes placed where you can hear them upstairs
- Setting up the app and testing motion zones
Getting the camera angle right
A doorbell on a terraced street often looks straight out at the pavement and the houses opposite. The gov.uk guidance on domestic CCTV, which includes video doorbells, says that if your camera records people outside the boundary of your own property, data protection law applies to you.
That guidance suggests placing cameras to limit what they see of neighbours and the street, using privacy filters where the device has them, telling your neighbours and putting up a sign. We will help you set the angle and the motion zones so the camera covers your door and step without filming more than it needs to.

Smart locks and keyless entry
Smart locks either replace the inside part of an existing lock or fit over the thumb turn. Which type works depends on your door and your current lock. Some period front doors have older locks that a smart lock will not fit without changes.
Send a photo of both sides of your lock when you ask for a quote. If you rent, check with your landlord first, as your tenancy agreement might say something about changing locks.
Indoor and outdoor cameras
Battery cameras can go almost anywhere with a decent wifi signal. Back gardens in Fulham terraces are often long and narrow, so a camera on the back of the house might need a signal booster to reach the end of the garden.
Plug in cameras need a nearby socket. If a camera needs a new outdoor socket or a fused spur (a fixed power point wired into the house), that is electrical work done by an electrician, which we arrange for you. A new circuit for outdoor security lighting is notifiable under Part P. This is done by a registered electrician who can self certify the work. We arrange it.
Flats and mansion blocks
In a block of flats, the main entrance door and the door entry system usually belong to the building, not to you. Before fitting anything on a shared door or in a communal hallway, check with your managing agent or freeholder.
Doorbells on your own flat door are usually simpler, though some blocks have rules about what can be fixed to front doors. A doorbell that clamps to the door rather than screwing into it can be a good choice for renters.
If your building already has a concierge or its own video entry system, as some newer riverside developments do, a smart doorbell on the flat door is mostly about seeing parcels and visitors who have been let into the building, so a small indoor camera or a door viewer style doorbell can suit better than a full outdoor unit.
Booking a fitting

Common questions
Do you only fit Ring doorbells?
No. Ring is the name most people know, but we fit most video doorbells, smart locks and home cameras. Let us know the make and model when you ask for a quote.
Can my video doorbell use my old doorbell wires?
Many can, if the existing bell supply suits the device. We check before connecting it. If new mains wiring is needed, an electrician does that part and we arrange it.
Is it legal for my doorbell to film the street?
Video doorbells are allowed, but gov.uk guidance says that if yours records people beyond your property boundary, data protection law applies to you. Setting privacy zones and telling your neighbours helps.
Will a smart lock fit my period front door?
It depends on the lock you have now. Send photos of both sides of the lock and we will tell you what is likely to work.
Can you put a camera on the shared entrance to my block?
Only with permission from whoever manages the building. Shared doors and hallways usually belong to the freeholder, not to each flat.
My wifi does not reach the garden. Can you help?
Yes. A wifi booster or mesh point can often extend the signal down a long Fulham garden. We can fit and set it up alongside the camera.
