What our kitchen fitter in Fulham does
Once the old kitchen is out and the room is ready, we build and hang the kitchen cabinets, fit the worktops, cut in the sink and hob, connect the sink and appliances to the existing water and waste, and fit doors, handles, plinths and end panels. We also scribe panels (trim them to follow an uneven wall) so there are no gaps.
We fit kitchens bought from the big suppliers as flat pack, and rigid kitchens that arrive with the cabinets already built. If you have not ordered yet, we can come round and measure up so your plan matches the room.
- Building and fitting base and wall cabinets
- Cutting and fitting laminate and wood worktops
- Fitting sinks, taps and waste
- Installing built in ovens, dishwashers and fridges
- Fitting doors, handles, plinths and cornice
Kitchens in Fulham terraces and flats
Many Victorian terraces in Fulham have a narrow kitchen running into the back of the house, sometimes in a later extension. Galley layouts are common, and walls and floors are rarely true. We spend time levelling the base cabinets properly, because everything above depends on it.
Flats bring other problems. Carrying long worktops up the stairs of a mansion block takes planning, and some buildings only allow work at set times. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift, and any building rules you know about, and we will plan around them.
Jobs we cover

- Worktop cutting and fitting
- Sink, tap and waste connection

Gas hobs and cookers
Gas Safe Register says never try to fit or move a cooker yourself, and that it is illegal for someone who is not Gas Safe registered to fit a gas appliance. So our handyman does not connect, disconnect or move gas hobs, gas ovens or gas pipework.
Any gas work is done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. We will arrange this for you and plan the order of work so the cabinets and worktop are ready when the engineer arrives. Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card. The back lists the types of gas work they are qualified for.
Electrics in a new kitchen
Approved Document P, the government guidance on electrical safety in homes, says fitting a built in cooker is not notifiable work unless a new cooker circuit is needed. Swapping like for like sockets or adding to an existing circuit in a kitchen is not notifiable either.
A new circuit is. If your new induction hob or a double oven needs its own supply, or you want a new fuse box, this is done by a registered electrician who can self certify the work. We arrange it and build it into the plan so you are not waiting around once the cabinets are fitted.
New doors and worktops without a full refit
If the carcasses (the box frames of the cabinets) are sound, you do not always need a new kitchen. New doors, a new worktop, a new sink and tap, and lights under the wall cabinets can change the room a lot. This works well for landlords between tenants and for owners who are planning a bigger refit later.
Worktop fitting is where most of the time goes on an update. Solid wood needs oiling before and after fitting, and the cut edges around the sink must be sealed or they will soak up water and turn black. Laminate is quicker, but the joints still need careful work so they sit flat and do not lift. Tell us which you are leaning towards and we will talk you through it.
Getting a kitchen fitting quote
Send us your kitchen plan or order list if you have one, plus photos of the room as it is now. Tell us who is taking the old kitchen out and whether gas or new electrics are involved. We cover Fulham, Parsons Green, Sands End and Putney, and your quote will show which parts we do ourselves and which parts we arrange through a registered engineer or electrician.
Who this suits
- Owners of Victorian terraces with narrow back kitchens
- Flat owners in mansion blocks with awkward access
- People who have bought a flat pack kitchen and need it fitted
- Landlords updating a rental kitchen between tenancies
- Garden flat owners refitting a kitchen in a rear extension
Common questions
Can you fit a kitchen I bought online?
Yes. We fit flat pack and rigid kitchens from most suppliers. Send us the plan or order list so we can check it against your room.
Can your handyman connect my gas hob?
No. It is illegal for someone who is not Gas Safe registered to fit a gas appliance. Any gas work is done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and we will arrange this for you.
Does a new electric oven need an electrician?
Fitting a built in cooker is not notifiable unless it needs a new cooker circuit. If a new circuit is needed, it is done by a registered electrician who can self certify the work. We arrange it.
Do you take out the old kitchen?
We can include removing the old cabinets in your quote. Tell us if you want to keep anything, and whether any gas appliance needs disconnecting first. That is done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, which we arrange.
My walls are not straight. Will the units still fit?
Yes. We level the base cabinets first and scribe end panels and worktops to follow the wall, so the finish looks neat even in an old house.
Do you fit kitchen cabinets on their own?
Yes. If you only need new wall or base cabinets added to an existing kitchen, or flat pack cabinets built and hung, we can do that as a smaller job.
Can I just replace my kitchen doors and worktop?
Yes, if the cabinet frames are in good shape. It is a good way to update a kitchen with much less upheaval.
